OVERVIEW

Having previously collaborated with Thoroughbred to design packaging across the existing portfolio, Burnt Church Distillery once again entrusted us with developing CONFESSION® Chapter 1: Original Sin - the first in an irreverent yet sophisticated series of Straight Bourbon Whiskeys.

The client expressed their desire to make their own Confession: "We didn’t make this bourbon. While we never intended to bottle and sell bourbon we didn’t craft, the need to slow the run on our aging inventory overruled our sense of moral authority in this space". We aimed to convey this transparency in a lighthearted manner, focusing on a bold ecclesiastic design. We opted for a non-traditional bottle shape and premium labeling to provide the versatility needed to adapt as the series unfolds.

Sean Watterson, co-founder of Burnt Church Distillery, stated: "We are excited to introduce Confession Straight Bourbon Whiskey to the world. The Thoroughbred design team did a great job of bringing our vision to life for this brand through premium finishing details and luxury look and feel. The process of bringing Confession to life was more fun than we anticipated so stay tuned for more chapters in this tell-all story where you can expect transparency and premium brown liquid. As we take this journey together, we promise its conclusion to end in penance."
